Prilog o radu Zapadnoevropski zakoni na engleskom

Material aspect: The art project Western European Law is a factory production which consists of 120 rolls of toilet paper on which important documents from the cultural heritage of Western culture are cited. The work was printed by the toilet paper factory "Paper Luna" from Nis. Theoretical aspect: The theoretical aspect of this project raises the problematic issue of art as an activist practice, with reference to the engaged art practices in the XX and XXI centuries. The aim is to question social and political implications of art through a visualized mass representation of consumer goods, pointing to the expendable cultural values and heritage in civilization through the conceptual semiotic relationship that this work provokes (special semiotic relationship in our culture to toilet paper, it is sth we reject). My intention was not an invitation to achieve an ethical-moral ideal, but a parodized reflection of the current aesthetic-political reality. My project is one of the witty ways of orientation on the moment in which we live, and my position is the position of a socially engaged artist, positioned in a political and historical contextualization. It shows the inconsistency of European law application and its contradictions in terms of practical application. My project is an answer which in a humorous way points to mass consumer culture and contradictions of the structure of European law, as well as the inconsistency of its application.
